Simple detail:
During the 1920' and early 1930's the private banks of Macau issued various circulating checks in Dollars to facilitate trade with Chinese firms.
These apparently circulated freely along with the Pataca issues of the Banco Nacional Ultramarino which quite obviosly were in short supply.
