By December 1942, the Japanese army had completed their occupation in South East Asia. The Japanese Military Administration issued their currency which had the same value as that of strait settlement. These notes issued can be differentiated by alphabet letter. Thus the currency notes for Burma start with "B", "S" for Indonesia, "P" for Philippine and "M" for Malaysia.
